Active love
Imagine being in love with someone, but you stay very
passive in the relatonship. You leave your partner to make all the decisions,
you wait until he comes up with something and then you go along. Do you know
what happens after while? Joy and excitement dissappear and routine comes in.
You know he will sort it out and he knows he will have to do it.
The Lord has been talking to me about active love. He desires a dynamic relationship with us, not a servanthood. He likes to be surprised, He loves when we approach Him actively. How? Take initiative! Step out of your comfort zone! Tell Him that you love Him, but then prove it! Love without deeds is dead.
So everytime you do something you did not have to do, this little extra, when you act mercifully to someone who did not deserve it, you loved Him. Everytime you feed the physically or spiritually poor, you loved Him. Everytime you forgive someone before they ask you for forgiveness, you loved Him. Everytime you bring peace, you loved Him. Everytime you pay for someone, who cannot repay you, you loved Him. Everytime you show grace to your enemies, you loved Him. Everytime you care for your neighbour, you loved Him.
Remember, we are His reward! What kind of reward is my life for Jesus? Can I tell that my worship, my prayer bring smile on His face? That my decisions please Him? That He enjoys the times spent with me? Lord, that is my prayer today, I have tasted and seen, use me so others can see and taste of Your goodness and mercy. Lord, send me, keep my heart ready to give a testimony of Your neverending love whenever, wherever.
