Your heart, your home
John 14,23: If
anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him, and we will
come to him and make our home with him.
2. Corinthians
5,1-3 ..longing to be clothed with our
heavenly dwellings. Because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.
Where is your
home? Where do you feel like being home? I was confronted with this
question over and over again. There were times when I could not really
answer it. Until I heard His Voice telling me to come home. That´s where
the journey began.
You have surely
heard the phrase: Invite Jesus into your heart. Open the door of your heart,
let Him inside. We teach this in Sunday schools, though how many of us are
conscious of this reality? Hebrews 3:6 says we are His house, in John 14:23
Jesus says He will make His home with us. God desires to live inside of us! He
is not a temporary visitor, once He is in, He makes no plans of moving
out! He signs a life-long contract. With His blood.
For many years
I imagined my heart - His home as one empty room with two chairs in it.
One for Him, one for me. Nothing more. But God mercifully showed me what His
house looks like. Yes, HOUSE. A property, not a rented room. Like
your physical heart, His house has different chambers, different rooms.
I also believe the way we build our houses in natural comes from Him – the
Creator of all good things.
When you enter
a house, normally there is a hallway. A transition place from outside
into the inside. This is where you feel the warmth, where you take of your
cloak and shoes, because you don´t need their protection at home. You can
already smell the food being prepared in the kitchen – my favourite room 😊, where I probably spend most of my
time. Prophetically kitchen is a place of preparation – cooking up new
ideas, new things. Normally when you come home, you are hungry (or is it just
me?). So it is natural you end up sitting at the dining table, which is
actually too long with many seats, eating and talking to Jesus. Dining table
represents fellowship or group partaking of spiritual food. I believe this
is where we learn, where we are strengthened and refreshed by eating the Word
of God. From the kitchen you see the garden, so after finishing your meal it is
absolute irresistable to grab your coffee and sit outside on the bench and
rest (digest). Garden symbolizes love and intimacy, nurturing, cultivating. And
you see the garden changing constantly without you working in it, because it is
His pleasure and joy to cultivate the place – the most enthusiastic Gardener
ever. He just needs your permission to do so. Across the hall there is
a large cosy living-room with a big white couch and a fireplace,
where you are invited to relax with your family. Next to it you will find
Father´s study room. He is writing books, many books with people´s names on
them. The whole room is filled with books. He is writing life stories of His
children. But the door is always open and you are welcome to enter any time. He
will drop everything and you will get Father´s full attention immediately. He
will take you on His lap and show you what He is doing. He writes a whole
book about your life! You are a part of His beautiful plan.
From the
hallway there is a wooden staircase leading to the second floor. There is
a bedroom with a beautiful royal bed with canopy and a
luxurious bathroom next to it. Place of cleansing after the whole day,
time to take off your clothes, put aside all your roles, your titels, your
ministry. There is nothing to hide, nothing to pretend. If you want to be
washed, you have to put it all down. Then finally you are ready to go to bed.
Even when our bodies are asleep, our spirits are awake and ready to receive
truths and revelations, that our minds cannot comprehend yet. Holy night time when
the King is revealing His secrets, His desires and strategies
In the morning,
after having a good breakfast, your best friend, the sweet Holy Spirit, is
already waiting for you, ready to walk with you out of the house. He is always
by your side, ready to help, teach, encourage and comfort you. Imagine living
every day in this reality! Jesus already paid the price and purchased such
a house for you! He paid with His holy blood. He wants to make His home in
your heart, will you be His resting place?
Later
I understood the purpose of different rooms on deeper level. Kitchen is for
anyone who is hungry, anyone who wants to listen to His Word, who wants to be
taught and strengthend in faith. That´s why the dining table is so long. The
garden is mostly for you to enjoy the fruit, but you can let other people in,
you decide who. The living room, I believe, is a place, where family
comes together, shares, plays, laughes. But the bedroom is just for you and the
King. No one else is allowed to come in, it´s your sacred place, where you
enjoy communing with Him. Only the two of you. Yer later I understood the
importance of doors. They represent our choices, opportunities, to move / cross
to a new place. It is our decision wether we stay in the hallway, or enter
the kitchen. The simple act of opening the door and stepping in is our
responsibility – our task. We determinde how much of our house will be used and
inhabitated, if we choose to enter all rooms that are available or stay outside
because of fear of the unknown. Even when you are at home with your beloved
ones, no one is going to open the doors for you, you have to do it for
yourself. So do not be afraid and explore your house, your heart, enjoy the
time there, eat, drink, rest, love, get revelations and then refreshed go out
into the world and tell everyone that the time has come. Time to come back
home.
