Hidden in Him

„In the shelter of your presence you hide them (those who fear you, those who take refuge in you) from all human intrigues, you keep them safe in your dwelling from accusing tongues.” Psalm 31:20

These words captivated my heart and I made me thinking about what exactly it means to live hidden in God. I mean not only to seek refuge by God in the times of trouble, but to permanently reside in Him. Is it possible to stay there and never leave it? What and where is this secret place?

In the shelter of His presence He hides us, where His Love overwhelms us constantly, His Peace protects our minds and His Joy fills our souls every day. He wants us to dwell in this place day and night. That is actually the reason why He gave His life on the cross. So we may be where He is. And it does not only relate to our life after death, but I am convinced, that we can be where He is everyday of our lives right now! In His house, in His heart, in His presence. We are not meant to come to visit Him from time to time, but to stay, to dwell in Him.

I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Psalm 61: 4

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most Higt will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

You are my hiding place, you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7

Because it was Jesus´ desire, He paid the price. He purchased this place for us with His own blood. In the pursuit of this I found following steps helpful:

1.    Trust Him completely - believe that He wants to be with you more than you do, trust Him completely, because He trusts you!

2.    Seek Him – He loves to hide things, but even more He loves to watch how we search them out!

3.    Spend time with Him daily – reading the Word, praying, worshiping, in order to get to know Him better. By doing so you show Him that He is important to you, that He is your priority.

4.    Protect your relationship with Him – do not let anything come between you and Him. Like Nehemiah was building the walls around Jerusalem: one hand working, the other one protecting what has already been built.

5.    Stay focused – do not let the distractions of the world take your eyes of Him. Again, like Jeremiah, sometimes you have to send various messengers away, in order to proceed with your work.

6.    Talk to Him constantly – ask Him what He thinks, what He feels, what He means when He says something. Ask Him, talk to Him! He is waiting, eager to answer you!

7.    Rest in Him – knowing that He is the source of life, Almighty Creator, in Him you can find true peace in every storm.

8.    Obey Him immediately – if you hear, obey instantly, you will spare yourself a lot of trouble, or at least a lot of time.

9.    Ask for more – be hungry, thirsty, knowing, that He always has so much more for you.

10.  Surrender to His will, to the leadership of the Holy Spirit completely – with a thankful heart acknowledge that He is a sovereign God, He always knows better..

If we stay hidden in Him, we stay protected, safe from our enemies, unshakable in our faith, full of joy and thankfullness, ready to testify and bring the good news, living in truth, discerning the plans of the enemy, getting equipped and prepared for the things that will come. Growing in love, maturing in our faith, having more of Him and less of ourselves, being more like Jesus was. Having a sound mind and a fearless spirit.

He wants His house full! Today! Are you going to dwell in Him, or just keep visiting Him on special occasions? He wants to be with you day and night, in your mourning, in your joy, when you are waking, when you are sleeping, when you are working, when you are resting. You CAN spend your life on this earth being held in His arms, being lead by His hand, being healed by His touch, being encouraged by His smile, receiving wisdom by His word, coming alive by His breath, completely amazed by His beauty and goodness, overwhelmed by His love, day for day discovering more of Him and so inviting others to experience Him as well.

”One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.” Psalm 27:4
