Authority

One song says that the God´s Kingdom is upside-down, inside-out. What is valued in this world has little or no value in the Kingdom of God. And on the other side the Bible says the last will be first and that the Kingdom of God belongs to children – the little ones. Opposite of the darkness is light, so the Kingdom of light has to be the exact opposite to the world here. That´s the tricky thing, we live in the fallen world, but as children of God, we should live according to the Kingdom principles.

I learned a little bit about how you can do this through exercising your God given authority in your workplace, in your family, among your friends. We all like to have authority, to be taken seriously. But it will always cost you something. ”Whoever wants to become great among you, must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first, must be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Matt 20:26-28  If you want to have an authority in your family, you have to serve them, love them, be there for them, put yourself on the last place. ”Consider others better than ourselves and do nothing out of vanity of selfishness. Rather, look out for the interests of others.” Phil 2:3-4  That means investing yourself – your time, money, care, denying your selfish nature.

As I was leading a small department in hospital (2 doctors and 5 nurses) I learned a lot about authority. I was put in a place, where everybody was fighting for their own rights and comfort. So I had to work extra hard, sometimes even coming to my limits, but I learned to be lead by the Holy Spirit, loved them and watched the atmosphere changing. Patients started to be more and more thankful and satisfied, my nurses started to fulfill my wishes even before I spoke them out. They obeyed me because they loved me, not because they feared me. This kind of authority comes from heaven.

Authority comes through praying, fasting and giving/investing into the lives of others. The Lord taught me a lot about giving through one very precious family. One day the Holy Spirit kept reminding me to contact one of my good friend back in Slovakia. As I felt the nudging for the third time, I wrote her a message. Just asking how she was doing. She replied instantly, that she lost her job that day and her husband had no steady job at that time. So there was this family with three beautiful kids with no income. I understood immediately. Just few days ago I was thanking God for His provision, telling Him I have so much more than I need. So I financially supported the family in these difficult times and when I visited them personally I found out that the husband could work, but was constantly sick! That made me soo angry at the devil, trying to keep a father of three kids away from providing for them. I told him that it is NOT God´s will that he is constantly sick with sinusitis, that He surely wants to heal him, if I can pray for him. He sceptically allowed me to pray. But I already felt the Presence of the Lord strongly in the kitchen, so I knew He is about to do something! I just stretched my hand hand toward him and prayed a simple prayer, basically: infection, go in Jesus name! Two days later I received a message, that he woke up in the morning completely healed and stayed healthy for months, working hard, trying to catch up.

It was so easy! Next time I came to visit them, mum asked me to pray over her younger daughter, who was diagnosed with chronich bowl disease and had to use the toilet once every hour. As I heard this I felt a mixture of compassion for the kid and anger toward the evil one. You will not play with this family! So I just embraced the girl, and commanded all evil to go in Jesus name, it took about 10 seconds. Seriously. I had to keep it simple and quick, because the girl is very shy. That evening horrible stuff came out of her and from the next day on she had a normal stool once a day. I am definitely not one, who is super anointed, not nearly everybody I pray for is healed, but in this  family I had an enourmous authority. Why? I believe because I was praying for them on regular basis, fasting 1-2x week, providing for their physical needs at the same time. It was so powerful!

Every believer was given an authority through the cross. But we can have it and we may not be using it. It is like putting a precious gift in the shelf. We have to activate our authority in our families, workplace, friends, church by praying, fasting and giving. Then you will see things happening you have never dreamed of! Our mission is to serve one another, to give of ourselves. ”Love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:31
