You are being observed

„Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

I have loved this verse my whole Christian life. It just gives such a simple instruction how to witness to people around us. LET THEM SEE your good works, and they will see our Father in heaven. But it took me a long time to realise, that these works are not our own efforts and actions, but that they have been prepared by God with great care and love maybe even before we were born!

„For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph 2:10

In the last few years I could learn the difference between my works and His works!! How powerful! Our own works can give us a feeling of temporary satisfaction, maybe some appreciation from people, but mostly we end up exhausted, and after a while you see the results slowly fading away.. But His prepared works often come very quietly, unexpected, mostly required a great deal of courage and faith, they force you to leave your comfort zone. But if you take the risk and step out, the fruit of it is everlasting and you can rejoice in it even years later! You will never loose an awe of what God did through you, and you will end up refreshed, usually with a new revelation, with another lesson learned, with a feeling of being a part of something bigger! What a difference!

It is our decision. Are we willing to silence our own ego, our own will in order to be able to hear the gentle Voice of the Holy Spirit talking to us throughout the day? Are we ready to lay down our own agenda? Our own cool image? Are we ready to be a fool for this world? Do you believe, that God can use anybody, anything, any situation to start talking to you?

Once I learned a sweet lesson from my nurses. I was working in a small department with another colleague, who was older than me and was working there a lot longer. But it seemed to me, that my (I call them mine, because they are in my heart forever) nurses kept coming to me with all questions, inquieries and even their own personal problems. I found it strange, so I asked one of them openly, why they mostly come to me and not to my colleague. And the answer was: „Since you came here we were watching you, how you work, how you behave to patients, how you think, how you speak. And we like it and we trust you.”  Really? Whoops, I didn´t even realise I was being observed so closely.

Recently I was interceding for a friend going through a tough situation, which escalated when she got stuck in a train for over 4hours the evening before her specialisation exam in oncology. She arrived so late that she had no place to stay and there was no free hotel room in the city, well crazy situation. While praying for her I really felt, that this is the time when the whole heaven, the whole hell stops, and all creatures start watching. What will she do? Will she still believe that God is in charge or will she turn away from Him in anger and dissapointment? How we choose to respond in a situation like this one is extremely important! Because it reveals the attitude of our heart, our trust, our faith, our relationship with Him. So in the midst of hardship, don´t forget, you are not alone, all living creatures are waiting for your response! My friend ended up sharing a hotel room with another girl she barely knew. She spent the night thanking the Lord and blessing her new friend, she couldn´t sleep at all, but was refreshed in the morning. The exam went supernaturally well, and her results were the highest of all!

Sometimes all we need to do is stay steady. Stand on the promises God was speaking to you, do not let the circumstances take your eyes from the Beautiful One.  Because He never takes off His eyes of you!

„For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” 2.Chronicles 16:9
