Treasure hunt
As a teenager I really enjoyed taking part in the treasure hunts organised in our
youth group. We had great young leaders investing into teenagers and treasure
hunts were my favourites. We didn´t sit in one place, but we were searching for
the hidden treasures, usually hints leading us to the next one, in the city, on
the streets, in the parks. But only many years later I´ve got the chance to
understand God´s perspective of this play.
I have heard stories of
Christians, mainly from US, doing treasure hunts, searching for people that God
is sending their way. So when my friend from Texas stayed with me, I really wanted to
try it! And she agreed! I was excited like a child and couldn´t wait until the
next day. I was first to wake up, great! I wanted to be first to ask
Him for instructions. So I tried to be very quiet, not to wake up the others and just
started talking to Him, enjoying the time alone with Him, asking to show me
what He has prepared for us All of a sudden I felt a sharp pain going
through my right calf. First I thought: Oh no!, such a distraction, it has to
be the devil trying to spoil my time with Jesus. But then I realised, what I
have been asking for. Asking for instructions. Could it be, Lord, that You want
us to pray for somebody with a pain in right calf? As soon as the idea came,
the pain vanished. Wow, I have got the first hint! Shortly after that the girls
woke up. So the usual routine started, 4 girls, one bathroom, breakfast,
chatting, and then finally(!) we came together to worship and pray.
There was just a CD playing
and at one point we all started worshipping spontaneously, and everybody was
doing a different thing. Honestly, it didn´t even sound very nice. But then I
heard some new voices that filled the gaps in our worship perfectly. Wow, I
thought first, that my friend must have taken some special singing classes, she
sings so beautifully, but the I realised there were more voices.. Ok, second
thought, it has to be the CD. But wait a minute, I have listened to this CD at
least for hundred times, THESE voices were definitely not there before. Wow,
third thought: it is such a heavenly sound, did angels join us in our worship?
I turned around to ask my friend and she confirmed it, she has seen them
entering the living room through the hallway. It was so precious, so humbling, that they were
not put off by our imperfections, but actually attracted to our heart cries and
hunger. When you hear those voices, you simply know something is going to
happen. So afterwards we prayed, asking for people, places, signs and words. My
german sister saw a person with crutches and a dog on her/his right side, my
sister saw a yellow shield and my American sister and I saw trains and a train
station. So off we went! Full of expectations, filled with the Holy Spirit we
walked to the tube station. We chatted briefly with few people on our way,
and got on a first train. My friend started talking to a boy, about 14years
old, sitting next to her. I was translating to german, thinking, oh no, she
could have not picked worse. He will be embarrassed and will walk away
immediately. She shared with him that dreams are one of the ways how God
communicates with us and then asked him, if there is anything we can pray for.
And he said yes! For better results in school and that he will be able to learn more
easily. So we did, while a couple sitting opposite was staring at us as if we
were ghosts. So we talked to them, they were Christians from Poland, on their
way to church, and told us that they have never seen anyone sharing about Jesus
so openly in the public. They loved it! Before we got to our destination, we
were friends, family, encouraging and loving each other. God needed just about 15minutes to do that!
So we arrived at the
main train station in Frankfurt. We started looking for someone or something
that would match our instructions. And then we saw her! Under a bright yellow
shield, there was a girl with crutches, with a dog on her right side and a
bandage around her right calf. Oh, what a faith-explosion! We KNEW she will be
healed! She was standing with a group of young people. We approached her,
introduced ourselves and asked if she has a pain in her leg and she confirmed a
sharp pain in her right calf. She had an accident and it was not healing
properly, she had constant pain for over a month. She immediately agreed with a
prayer for healing, so we went on our knees, touched her leg and prayed simply
for healing, commanded the bones to be restored in Jesus name. Then we asked how
she felt. She said better, but she still has some pain. Ok, let´s pray again!
So we did, and in the middle of the prayer she quickly took some steps back and
screamed out loud: What was that? We explained, that Jesus just healed her and she
ended up in tears. It was just open heaven.. And a very strange thing happened.
There were people gathering around us, coming and ASKING for prayer. Even
people in McDonald´s were watching us!
As first came a girl,
friend of the girl who just got healed, and asked us to pray for her mum, who
was recently diagnosed with leukaemia. Then a guy came who wanted to go to US
to see his aged grandparents. Then I saw a little lady standing in the corner,
watching us intently. So I went to her and asked if I can pray for her.
She bursted into tears and said, that she didn´t hear anything about her son for
more than a year and is worried, that he might not be alive. So I prayed for the lost son. Many
people approached us, but I also noticed few running away from us. We decided
to pray for all people with crutches, so when we saw an older man with a really
sad face, we stopped him and asked if we can pray. He didn´t understand, he
couldn´t speak any language that we were speaking. So we used gestures and
sounds to explain, and he reluctantly agreed. We prayed and felt movement in
his knee. Slowly his face was lighting up, until he had a big smile on his
face. He was happy, hugged us and went in the opposite direction as he came. After few meters he turned around and held his crutches high above his head. It was beautiful. When
we encounter His Love and His Goodness, we are changed, we don´t want to live
the same way we did and we start walking in a new direction. After a while I decided it is time for coffee and guess
what! There were more divine appointments
in the coffee shop, one of them being a divine connection and friendship that
last up to this day. It was so overwhelming that I had to remind God where we
are! Lord, this is not Africa, not Asia, not America, this is Frankfurt, Germany!
But there is just One
Almighty God, His Power the same in Africa, Asia or Europe. He never changes, He is
always the same! Hallelujah! When I was thinking about when and with whom I
will be doing the next treasure hunt, I suddenly realised, that is not IT. That
is not the purpose of this. I want my EVERY DAY to become a treasure hunt! I
want it to be my lifestyle! Lord, it is so beautiful, that I don´t want to live
without seeing Your precious children being touched by Your Love every day!
Help me to bring Your Love, Peace and Wisdom into every situation! For Your
Glory!
